Times have changed haven't they?

During the T4 era, the roles were clearly defined, TKSG, neutrals and "bastards" a.k.a people that TKSG didn't like, be from gameplay style or actual real life personality. Things were, as they say, in black and white. The people from TKSG, fueled by knowledge from korean videos and TZ, dominated the scene and held several minor tournaments, amongst themselves. The scene was small, but very zealous.

There were very strict "beliefs" as to how the game should be played, and there were a great many controversies as T4 was in itself, a controversial game. TTT stalwarts stuck with TTT while the T4 generation heralded a new breed of deadlier opponents. The change in strategy following the transition of gameplay meant that older players didn't adapt while newer players rapidly achieved dominance. This would come to a head in T5.

The start of the T5 era held a return of many old players from the TTT scene. In addition to this, a huge number of new players started appearing in the arcades. Such a huge mass of new players was unprecendented in the tekken scene who had been so used to recognizing the same familiar faces and asserting "control". As time progressed, egos would eventually clash, and indignant old school players clumped together and derided the younger players while the new players abhorred the elitist mindset of the old players. Eventually clans formed up, with like-minded individuals joining together, and again, borders and lines became formed.

Two prominent clans, Launch+ and DiSc came to the fore and the battles between the two clans have been epic. After the June VS League, CHAOS suddenly witnessed a massive surge in size as players flocked to join. From a 2 horse race, the balance of power has split amongst 3 clans now.

*BroZ* I believe has split, the core of players having left for CHAOS. Criminal and Evil are both untested clans in my eyes, Only time will tell if they shall rise to prominence as CHAOS has.

I dislike the idea of several big clans controlling the entire scene. It reminds me of the illuminati for some reason. I strongly encourage individuals to branch out and do their own thing instead of blindly pursuing a single clan's interests.

I know it goes against everything a clan stands for (which is to consolidate power and grow and grow and grow), but I prefer diversity over unilateralism. I see the rise in power of CHAOS as a very good thing, and if Evil and Criminal can get more involved, more so the better.

I've known Ryuji since when he started out in the Tekken 4 days. Back then he used a very solid Jin, and along with Shin and Peter, formed a formidable trio. Nowadays, he seems to have pretty good success with his Law. I think he should have no problem getting another Top 8 finish, but the question is whether he can break into the Top 3 with so many tough competitors this month.

When Tekken 5 rolled around, it brought in many new players, and one such player was Noobkken. True to his name he was awful, I think we all played around with him like nothing. Anyway, I took a hiatus from the game and when I came back, he was playing around with me like some B.net pubbie. But from what I observe, Noobkken is devastating in casuals but always falls short during the tournies.

He's definitely a top player, but I think he gets the blackface too easily and that messes up his game badly. I think if he keeps a cool head, and focuses on the game, he'll go really really far. He has the capabilities to win the whole thing, but something is holding him back. Top 3 to Top 8.

Everyone thought this guy would easily claim the May VS championship but it took Soka to derail him. I've known this guy from when I first started out back in the TTT/T4 Era, everyone agreed he was the fastest rising talent in the scene at the time. His reactions, technique and throw breaking are exceptional, but his real strength comes from breaking down his opponent's patterns. I love watching his games, he's in the top 3 i reckon.

Initially I thought he's just another guy on the forums, but i think last week I played a few games with him and I almost thought the bryan I was playing was Tugga -_- .. Then he sweeped me 3-0 with his paul.

One of the most famous players in the sg scene (although he is malaysian lol) and arguably the best player in the country. He was a big name back in the TTT days, having frequent wars with DEA and Fat. Then he traveled to NZ and made a name for himself there in that Tekken Scene.

Now in the T5 era, as the leader of Launch+, people recognize his trademark Heihachi, but he can use a hella lot of characters with just as much skill (I believe he won the april VS using King). One of the most talented players ever to play tekken in the region. Top 3 easily.

It's great to have another visitor from overseas to participate. It really raises our scene's profile. Unfortunately Chaoz is an unknown quantity to me, so I can't give any opinions. From what I know about the philippines, it is a huge scene with tons of players, back in the early days of TTT there was a guy called VOS who was tearing heads apart so I don't really know what to expect lol.

Easily a Top 3 player in the country, and a strong contender to win the tournament. Rond's meteoric rise from the new batch of Tekken players is simply remarkable, he has excellent game sense and awareness, and his results in previous tournaments back up his skill no doubt. One thing amazing about Rond is that he can use a very wide range of characters with an almost equal skill level.

Reliable sources tell me that most top players are wary of his Feng most of all. Top 3 placing and with a very good chance of winning.

I remember this guy as Azi's friend during the TTT days. Back then he used True Ogre and Eddy as a team. I don't think he played seriously then but now he's improved quite alot, much more game savvy. I was having difficulty playing with him last week, i think his gameplay has gone up a notch. I would predict top 16 or top 8.

The former KOF master has no problems in the Tekken series, and is probably the current top Steve in the country. I first met Shin when he started out playing Tekken during the Tekken 4 era. Right from the start he established himself as a top player. He's no nonsense, he won't listen to all this cheapness talk, he'll just play to win and that's that. He's a real competitor.

As you can see from his past results, he always places very high but a tournament win has always eluded him and now with the field expanded to 32 players, does this weaken his chances or strengthen them? I think he has no problems getting a Top 8 place, or even a top 3 placing... or possibly win the whole thing.

Along with Evade and DEA, Fat was one of the top players during the TTT era. I remember when I was a noob and first came onto the scene during the T4 days, there was a good deal of awe whenever Fat was sighted in the arcade, but he didn't play, I think he was playing War3 at the time (am I right?).

Now in the T5 era he's one of the main players in Disc and one of the top Devil Jins in the country. So I will predict a Top 8 finish, and he may well place higher.

I reckon one of the stronger of the new batch of players. He's capable of beating top people but I think nerves get to him. I remember him knocking out Fat, and more recently beating the Penang Steve during some casuals. It's entirely possible that he'll knock out a few big names, which I'm predicting will happen but we'll have to see if he's steady enough to place high. Top 8 or 16.

Let me introduce you to this guy, from what I know. He was one of the giants of the early TTT scene, along with Fat and Evade. This guy was wavedashing and ewgf'ing before any of us even picked up the game. I believe he was the one who originally mentored Tiger'sEye, so you can imagine how influential he was.

Since he hasn't been playing seriously, I don't expect him to place, but he's definitely a player you wanna check out. Oh, also a very controversial player in Tekken Singapore history

Looks like the competition here in Osaka is way way ahead us in SEA. The 'scrubs' here are really good at their basic which includes throw breaking! Its only been 2 days so far and only one on T5DR and I only played less than an hour... so its still early to say how far up they are on the skill ratings.

One thing is for sure, they aren't very random and can parry lows alterntively. Not necessarily turtlers but they are really apt. I suppose the right way to put it is to see Red-blur playing Anna at 3 times the capabilities. The Lei I faced was so-so but had a lot of fresh set ups and mix ups that I never saw before. But still, they weren't mashers nor SG type of noobs. They were jap noobs... kinda making them pretty good in my aspect.

Well like what Azi put it the other time around... the norm around these parts somehow put Singapore down the ladder... real far. :D More updates to come, keep your eyes peeled!!!

In a nutshell

- A 32 man tournament completed in 3 hours 30mins! I predict it would actually run even faster!

- DOUBLE ELIMINATION! I know alot of players wanted that.

- Not BORING, if you are a spectator.

After I took into consideration the viewpoints from some of the top players, as well as the organizers. I managed to merge double elimation with the concept of Best of 9 rounds, Best of 1 game.

If I were to define the "Skye" format. It would be X-number of players, in double elimination, using best of 9 rounds, best of 1 game.

Stole the above image by googling "double elimination", then I tacked on then different "Stages" onto the existing ".JPG", to make the explanation seem clearer.

Let me break it down..

1. This will be at the tournament area, with the big screen, and 4 cabinets (meaning 2 games can go on simultaneously)

2. The machines are set to 5 rounds (or best of 9 rounds, or first to 5 rounds), at 60 seconds.

3. For a total of 32 players, there will be 10 Stages to the tournament, with Stage 1 being the first round, and Stage 10 being the Grand Finals.

4. I have calculated the total time based on an estimated average. I assume each set to finish at 5-3 rounds, with 40 seconds being spent. Which is roughly 5 minutes 30 seconds. So it takes 5 minutes 30 seconds to finish 1 set between 2 players.

STAGE 1

- 32 players play 16 games in total. With 2 machines, we are able to run 2 games simultaneously, meaning that we really only spend 8 games worth of time, as opposed to 16.

- 16 players advance to the Winner's Bracket. 16 players drop down to the Loser's Bracket.

- Total estimated time = 44 minutes

STAGE 2

- 32 players play 16 games in total. 16 players in the Winner's Bracket play 8 games, 16 players in the Loser's Bracket play 8 games.

- 8 players advance to the Winner's Bracket. 8 players drop down to the Loser's Bracket. 8 players in the Loser's Brackets are eliminated. There are now 16 players in the Loser's Bracket at this point.

- There are now 8 players in the Winner's Bracket and 16 players in the Loser's Bracket.

- Total estimated time = 44 minutes

STAGE 3

- Stage 3 only involves the Loser's Bracket. The remaining 8 face off with the freshly dropped 8 players from the winners bracket. So 8 games will be played, and 8 players in the Loser's Brackets will get eliminated.

- There are now 8 players left in the Loser's Bracket, and 8 players in the Winner's Bracket.

- Total estimated time = 22 minutes

STAGE 4

- 16 players face off, in 8 games. The 8 winners play 4 games in total, and the 8 losers play 4 games in total.

- 4 players advance to the Winner's Bracket. 4 players drop down to the Loser's Bracket. 4 players in the Loser's Brackets are eliminated.

- There are now 4 players in the Winner's Bracket, and 8 players in the Loser's Bracket.

- Total estimated time = 22 minutes

STAGE 5

- Stage 5 only involves the Loser's Bracket. The remaining 4 face off with the freshly dropped 4 players from the Winner's Bracket. So 4 games will be played, and 4 players in the Loser's Brackets will get eliminated.

- There are now 4 players in the Winner's Bracket, and 4 players in the Loser's Bracket.

- Total estimated time = 11 minutes

STAGE 6

- SPECIAL NOTE : Now we start to use only 1 machine. As the focus is drawn to the finals stages of the tournament.

- 8 players face off, in 4 games. The 4 winners play 2 games in total, and the 4 loser's play 2 games in total.

- 2 winners will advance to the Winner's Finals. 2 players drop down to the Loser's Brackets. 2 players in the Loser's Brackets will get eliminated.

- Total estimated time = 22 minutes

STAGE 7

- SPECIAL NOTE : Now we start to use only 1 machine. As the focus is drawn to the finals stages of the tournament.

- Stage 7 only involves the Loser's Bracket. The remaining 2 face off with the freshly dropped 2 players from the Winner's Bracket. So 2 games will be played, and 2 players in the Loser's Brackets will get eliminated.

- There are now 2 players in the Winner's Bracket and 2 players in the Loser's Bracket.

- Total estimated time = 11 minutes

STAGE 8

- SPECIAL NOTE : Now we start to use only 1 machine. As the focus is drawn to the finals stages of the tournament.

- The Winner's Final takes place at Stage 8, between the last 2 players of the Winner's Bracket. The winner will move on to the Grand Finals, while the loser drops down to the Loser's Final.

- The remaining 2 players in the Loser's Bracket will play 1 game in total. 1 player will become eliminated.

- Total estimated time = 16 minutes 30 seconds

STAGE 9

- SPECIAL NOTE : Now we start to use only 1 machine. As the focus is drawn to the finals stages of the tournament.

- Stage 9 is none other than the Loser's Finals. The last remaining player of the Loser's Bracket will face off against the 1 player who lost in the Winner's Finals.

- The winner of this match will advance to the Grand Finals. The loser is the 3rd place winner of the tournament.

- Total estimated time = 5 minutes 30 seconds

STAGE 10

- SPECIAL NOTE : Now we start to use only 1 machine. As the focus is drawn to the FINALS.

- Here we are! At last we've come to the climax of the whole tournament. In one corner we have someone who is completely undefeated. And in the other corner we have someone who has had to win twice the number of games compared to the other player.

- In order for the winner of the Loser's Bracket to win the tournament, he has to beat the winner of the Winner's Bracket twice (Best afterall, it's double elimination, and the winner's bracket winner never lost once). The winner of the Winner's Bracket only needs to beat the other guy 1 set to win the champhionship

- Total estimated time = 15 minutes 30 seconds

Grand Total Time Spent = 213 minutes 30 seconds or 3 hours 34 minutes

So there you have it. It's all worked out. Everybody's too terrified of working out 32 players into a double elimination period under 4 hours, but I have done it.

Not only is it under 4 hours, it's incorporates so many factors you wouldn't normally think of.

WHY is it best of 9 rounds, best of 1 game and not best of 5 rounds, best of 3 games?

Because if your audience watches Bo9 rounds, Bo1 game, he knows every match is vitally important. It could mean dropping down to loser's or even worse, facing elimination.

Lets face it, if it's best of 3 games, your audience wouldn't know what the hell is going on half the time. You have to give them a REASON to watch the games. "Oh, if he loses he's eliminated" or "If he loses this, it's down to the losers for him". Imagine if they haven't a clue as to what is going on.. What do bored people do? The audience may be tempted to leave the arcade to eat lunch, or smoke, or fall asleep. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it's true!

"Oh, he just lost one game, it's okay, he still has another game to bounce back to 1-1". Do you think that your audience will understand that? Believe me, it's very sian to have to go back to seeing the character selection screen again and again. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT, people get bored if nothing happens within a 5-10 second span. That's just the way it is.

Is Bo9 too random? Well, I don't know. I believe Tekken 5 : DR is consistent at the higher levels, which is where we want to reach. The life settings is at 120%, this is a big deal. You have 5 whole rounds. I think this minimizes the randomness greatly.

Okay in conclusion, adopt this format. There's no other way to have 32 players within such a short time span.

Believe me! I'm not against Best of 3 games, it's just that there is NO TIME.

This is the only way to do it.

Okay, I'm going to talk about this, because firstly, I think things are spiralling out of control as far as admissions are concerned. And secondly, we're losing the camaraderie we once had.

Lets look at the situation at hand,

A) We've got a whole bunch of people in the clan who most of us don't know. We let them in because they have the skills, but we have NO idea about their personality, whether we can click with them or not.

B) We seem to be on this mad quest to just keep adding skilled people. So who are we going to add next? The whole of korea, if we have the chance?

Let's face it, it's not the skill we're so concerned about. At the higher levels, everyone has a certain standard. I can't really explain what the guidelines for joining Launch+ should be, but I know what the guidelines should NOT be.

And that is "hey can i join?", "Lets see your vids", "wow you're pretty good, you won X tournament, welcome aboard". wth is this?

Catfish, and the Malaysian players are perfect examples of International players that we WANT in Launch+. Really nice guys, with really mad skills. In fact, maybe it's more than just being a nice guy, they are homies, we can chill with them.

DesChobo is another perfect example of a desired International player. We all LOVE Des, and he's an amazing player, with an amazing history behind him.

I'm not going to talk about the people that I don't know, Evade tells me that Mr Kula, the Australian players and NZ players are really cool people so that's fine, because I trust him.

No idea about any of the US players. =P

But yeah, essentially, If I can make a point out of all the nonsense I just typed..

Concluding, I want to say (sei, sei!) that I love the idea of Launch+, but we should consider a big upheaval and clan reevaluation.

VS League Discussion

Before I start the discussion, I would like to spend a little time to acknowledge the work of SdF_Jin, Shiki and Alex for what they are doing for the gaming. I wouldn't be able to type any of this, if the league didn't exist. Do you understand what the situation is? There is HOPE at last. We actually have a company supporting us.

We've got the backing of TKA to fund tournaments, and encourage growth of the gaming scene. And this is all thanks to those 3 people named above.

Without your tireless work, we'd be back to square one, funding tourneys out of our own pocket and heading nowhere. It must be said that there are days when these people stay on the weekends to help run things WITHOUT overtime pay, they do it just because they love the scene and want to promote it. Right, now I will bring up a few points regarding the VS league, and how we can help to improve it.

League Format

Right now there are 16 places available + a waiting list + an early bird bonus. And league matches fall on the second last and last saturday of the month.

Evade told me there are easily 32 players that would join the tournament league. So right now I'm concentrating on greatly increasing the quantity of players involved in the league, and making sure the excitement and desire to get "ranked" is there.

I believe the current league system doesn't do anything as far as creating this desire goes. It's basically earn up to 15 points
and then stop playing. And as such, I think this current system won't generate sustained interest in the long run.

So what's the solution? Refine the format.

We have 7 Months until December, during which I assume will be the grand finals.

So now for the month of MAY, lets do it in this format.

We have ONE, 3-hour time slot on the second last week of the month of May.

Okay so we get 32 players (using our publicity, see below).

The basic format of the league is Single Elimation, set to "First to 5 rounds" (Best of 9 Rounds). Opponent selection is random, organizers will randomly pick, and create the brackets based on random selection.

STAGE 1 - "Round of 32"

Each player is randomly assigned an opponent. There will be 16 games, set to "First to 5 rounds" (best of 9 rounds) each, 60 seconds, Single Elimination.

Notes : No capping of matches, both machines used to play, 2 games at a time. 72 mins max game time."

STAGE 2 - "Sweet Sixteen"

Down to 16 players, 8 games, set to "First to 5 rounds" (best of 9 rounds) each, 60 seconds, Single Elimination.

Notes : No capping of matches, both machines used to play, 2 games at a time. 36 mins max game time"

STAGE 3 - "Elite Eight"

Down to 8 players, 4 games, set to "First to 5 rounds" (best of 9 rounds) each, 60 seconds, Single Elimination.

Notes: Start Capping matches of Elite Eight. Only use 1 machine. 36 mins max game time"

STAGE 4 - "Final Four"

Down to 4 players, 2 games, set to "First to 5 rounds" (best of 9 rounds) each, 60 seconds, Single Elimination.

Note : Record Matches. Only use 1 machine. 18 mins max game time"

STAGE 5 - "Grand Finals"

Down to 2 players, 1 game, set to "First to 5 rounds" (best of 9 rounds) each, Single Elimination. Winner of this is champion.

Notes : Record Matches. Only use 1 machine. 9 mins max game time"

Total possible GAME time = 162 mins, meaning 2.7 hours

The extra 20 mins can be spent on setting up, waiting for stragglers, and generally bracket organizing.

So we have 1 month to assemble the 32 players, I don't think it's hard. There's easily more than 32 players in Singapore, looking at Evade's 3v3 list of people.

So that's the new format that I've come up with, it's exciting, keeps players on their toes, and with 5 rounds, not as dangerously random as possible. I've helped to run at least 3 tekken tourneys in the past. When we made the rounds too short, it was exciting, but over too quickly, when we had best of 3 games, 3 rounds, people fell asleep. I know how to balance it, trust me.

Point system

If you tell the people that once you get 15 points you're through to the grand finals, they'll get complacent. They'll think "oh, well i have enough points, i'm going to relax now".

What we should do is tally all the players' points over the months until November. And then take the top 16 players, and by INVITATION only, invite them to the Grand League Finals.

So lets say we managed to upgrade our player base to 64 players consistently by november. They would all have a good number of points each. We tally them all up, and choose 16 with the highest points. So people will fight, tooth and nail to get those top 16 places. That's what we want, hungry desire to get those positions.

1st place - 6 points
2nd place - 5 points
3rd place - 4 points
4th place - 3 points
5th to 8th place - 2 points
9th - 16th place - 1 point

Prizes

What do fighting game players want above all? Respect, Fame and Money.

We must focus greatly on these factors when considering the prizes.

..And I love the prizes. Come on, 100 bucks for 2 dollars participation fee? That's insanely good. Custom Card titles? It's better than I imagined. This is the joy of having a company back you.

So lets get into the details...

- Custom Card Titles

I know you guys want to promote VS, so you'd rather put "VS champion *insert month*, but tell me, what impact does it have on the community. I guarantee you, this will spiral out of control, and it will lose its "specialness" after a few months. Imagine going to the arcade and seeing any tom, dick, or harry with a "champion *insert month*" card. Make it special, Make people COVET it. Make it insanely hard to get. Make people want to train to get it. Only make 1.

I suggest you remove custom card titles as your prize each month because it waters down the effect of having a "custom title". I suggest you only give the ONE card at the GRAND finals in december, and it should be labelled,

"SG Champion 2007" - 16 characters!

Believe me, alot of people are going to want that card. Exclusivity is the key here. and moderation.

- Cash Prizes

To be honest, a $100 prize per month is awesome, for only a $2 investment. It's brilliant. I'm only worried if TKA feels it's wasting it's money. So really, if they can continue with the $100 dollars for the months to come, it's would be really really good.

And as we increase the number of players, maybe they might even RAISE the prize money hahaha..

MY job is to make sure more and more people join each month, until TKA realizes they're holding something special in the VS league, and throw more support into it.

Promotion/Publicity

Oh dear, you guys haven't made much headway here. Maybe it's not your fault because you're so busy running all the tournaments. But anyway, I'm here to offer solutions.

I'm a concert promoter, when Tommy Emmanuel came to Singapore I did alot of travelling, dropping off fliers, speaking to people at schools, music shops, and so on. It was hard, rough but it was also fun. When people weren't receptive, I picked up and moved on to the next person. That's how publicity is. You don't lose heart over 1 lost client, you keep pushing and pushing. My company spent ZERO on publicity, and relied on me (+ my family) to do the publicity, and guess what? We sold-out the concert on a non-existent publicity budget, 900 seats all filled up, for an artist who has NO exposure. Granted, we did it for the love of the artist, but it's the same here.. it can be done.

(BTW please check out Tommy Emmanuel, he's coming back to singapore July 21st @ the Esplanade! I'm doing publicity again!)

I'm greatly heartened that unknown people signed up for the first few months of Versus, it shows there are people outside of our visible scope, joining in within our knowledge. Treasure these people, treat them very very well. You want them to come back. Over and over again.

So you spend a little money, print out cheap grey / B&W fliers, and give small stacks to responsible community people who are willing to pass out fliers to at their neighbourhood arcades. Need a nice spread of distribution. Anyone of the forum members who visit neighbourhood arcades, or arcades on the extremities of the island, should help by giving fliers to people they don't know, playing tekken in the arcade.

Your Flier needs the following information

-A Big Header at the top, VS LEAGUE with nice graphic
-Put the list of games played
-Put the Prizes,
-Put the location of the TKA bugis

basically all the information about the tournament format, the date of the competition, so on and so forth. Get straight to the point.

Don't clutter it up with nonsense like "You don't wanna miss this!"

Capping of Videos

Do NOT use Youtube.

DO NOT USE YOUTUBE.

It's an absolute disaster. Crappy Flash Video quality, crappy sound. You should have a MPG quality file, nicely compressed to 20-50 megs, using Divx or Xvid.

When capping, record the big screen so as to get the crowd ambience. The crowd ambience is SO damn important.

HOWEVER, if you have the technical brilliance to somehow sync the crowd ambience with a direct signal through to the camera, such that you get high quality recording + crowd sound, that would be the best. But there's nothing wrong with using the camera to record the big screen, the quality is still decent.

How to distribute the files? Yousendit, Megaupload, rapidshare. Let the community share it peer to peer. We'll help with this.

Youtube is not an option.

To end off, i'd like to say that I have no interest in the other fighting games in the league. I want to make the tekken tournament so successful, that the organizers will have to cancel the other games and give the extra time slots to us, so we have more time to play with. 3 hours is really too short don't you think?

1) The VS League is highest achievement in the Singapore Tekken Scene.

Your rank means NOTHING. Your rank means NOTHING. Your rank means NOTHING.

YOUR RANK MEANS NOTHING.

If you want respect in this scene, we'll recognize your skill through this league. Nothing less.

2) New Players - You will respect the senior and experienced players.

They may piss you off, but they've been around longer, and they've put in the coins into the machines to keep this series running in Singapore. You may feel you can easily beat some of the older guys, that's fine. I'm not asking you to worship them, just remain humble and give a little face y'know?

Everybody likes a nice guy. We'll give respect where respect is due, don't worry about that part, it'll come with time.

3) Old Players - You will encourage newer players. Enough of the elitist bullshit.

The old rules of conduct within the game no longer exist. Gone are the days when abusing lows/throws is dishonourable. It's part of the game. You must adapt to it, or face extinction.

There's a tendency to denigrate the younger players, and say "the scene sucks". How exactly does this help the scene?

It's pretty much akin to trying to get a friend to quit smoking. You can scold and scold and scold, and be extremely harsh. OR you can be encouraging, patient and supportive. Which method works?

Being a more experienced player doesn't necessarily mean you're supposed to win more games vs younger players. You won't lose "face" if you get 0-3'ed all night by a new guy, it just means you need to up your game. It takes a bigger man to admit that he is less skilled than another, compared to someone who'll constantly make excuses for his losses.

4) Enough of the "SPAM" posts. They are FUCKING annoying.

5) Tekken 5 is a dirty game. Get over it.

Tekken 5 is NOT Tekken Tag. I think we all should by now that lows, throws, and being defensive are part of the game. And more importantly, part of STRATEGY.

We don't want to hear about how you feel about someone who you think is cheap. Does somebody throw alot? Does somebody keep sweeping you. Learn to break throws, learn to watch for patterns. PRACTISE.

If Tekken's just a past-time for you, fine. But don't come bitching to us you can't beat someone. You put in the hours, you get the results.

Once you can accept the fact that lows and throws are an integral part of the game, believe me, you will approach the game from a much more relaxed state of mind.

6) We need more Strategy Discussion

This is something the previous threads were PAINFULLY lacking. Post more quality, less quantity. If you've discovered something cool about your character, share it. If it's old news, don't flame the guy who brought it up, rather commend him for bringing about discussion.

Misinformation is a terrible thing as well. If you notice someone posting absolutely garbage strategies, point it out. But don't be an asshole about it. But If that guy ignores you, then I think EVERYONE should flame him lol.

7) Less back slapping posts

I'm all for post-tournament celebrations and what not. But have less of the "great games today man" or "GG to everyone". Can't you say these things on msn? The rest of us don't particularly care.

Exceptions are of course if the games were so mindblowingly orgasmic, that you simply have to express your joy at watching them.. erm whatever just post it.

If you really feel that what you're about to post is meaningful though, go for it.

8) More forum participation from the more skilled players

We want to hear your insight. Don't just maul us in the arcade and remain silent, some of us want to improve. Teach us, master!

Also, you should be around more for thread moderation.

9) Improve your english

Nothing elitist about this. This will do you so much good in the future, trust me. Try to avoid typing singlish in here, lets all try to make the standard higher.

I've travelled and played with Tekken players all over the world. One thing that they all are impressed with is that I can speak so well. I always say that it's not me but that it's because Singapore rules, so come on, lets raise the national profile.

10) Azi sucks

We all want a happening scene. We want a REALLY tight scene. I believe most of the people here are generally nice, just we've all had our share of uncomfortable interactions, or starting our associations on the wrong foot.

The Nature of Tekken 5 is very brutal, fast and over in a flash. And sometimes we can get really emotional if we lose badly in front of friends or your rivals. Learn maturity. Learn to take losses like a man. They say 1 victory is built upon the experience of 100 losses, there's no shame in losing.

For the younger posters (18 and below), it pays to be mindful to think before you type. For older posters, try to be more accomodating.

Ok, relying on the politically incorrect TKSG blog to leave my short story, which was removed from TZ to protect sensitivities hahahah. I just cant bear to delete it, 10 mins of my life was used! lol.

Oh shit, its tekken adventure time. So i was waiting for a friend at PS, so i went to the arcade to kill abit of time. Then i see this LONE WOLF jack5. omg. That's like uber high rank. I creamed my pants and though, shit, this is gonna be an awesome battle. Then i decided to pick a strong character, since it seemed like it was going to be tough. They said devil jin is the top tier, so i took him.

Shit, my eyes were finally opened as to what a high level jack-5 played like. Its so high level, i thought i was playing jack-14912991. So he does this like new move, the double punch into omgwtf launch laucnh double punnchh HOO~~!! I had to think hard and realised that i can actually block the 2nd hit, and punish. Its the -13 on block, since dreamboat once came into my dreams (lol) and punished it with jetupper. But my devil jin isnt lone wolf, so he cant do 13 frame electric to punish. Trying to keep my wits about me, i had to think hard, and pressed 1,1,2 for the punish.

Sweat was trickling down my face like a deluge of sperm from a 13 year old boy watching pron for the first time. (dammit azi)

Somehow i managed to win some rounds, but damn it was tough. With god like spacing he just kept nicely out of range of my moves. Ok, so it was HELLA FAR AWAY from any of my moves, but damn i suppose that's the power of a high rank. My non-lonewolf devil jin obviously cant accomplish that, so i had to try and close in.

It was intense, i felt like i was in SKT1 PLAYING IN OMFG STARLEAGUE, but somehow i managed to win that game. By then my face was flushing and i dont mean in a toilet bowl sense. I knew i was lucky to be able to win, since my highest rank is ONLY SEVENTH DAN, and if he played again i would pay my dues in a big way.

With immense trepedition i stared at the INSERT COIN words. It was with a queer (queer queer, not azi queer) gamut of emotions from adject terror to the fighter's determination in overcoming odds, that i watched the wretched white letters change to PRESS START BUTTON. 'here it comes', i thought, and muttered prayers to 93 different deities in 282 different languages. It was now, the real test of my tekken journey. Can i be one of them? Is my name worthy to be placed alongside that of one which carries the rank of lone wolf?

Alas, it was not to be. The gods of tekken have deemed me lucky with my win, and declared that my 22 inches were only allowed to take on a MASTER RANKED YOSHIMITSU. Even as the deepest recesses of my soul wailed in utter despair, a part of me refuses to give in. I'll show them, i said. And i picked the character that was higher tier than DJ, heihachi.

Strats and youtube vids innudated my consciouness, and deep inside me i said GG TO SOUTEN, MISHIMASTAR, SUGOIII, YAMATE!!!!!!! My path towards LONE WOLF NIRVANA would yet meet another stumbling block, as i had to answer a call just as the game started. I thought that if i were MASTER RANKED, such small things shouldnt trouble me. But of course, i'm NOT MASTER RANKED, so i succumed in the round.

Again, i experienced movement patterns that my LOW RANK could not begin to decipher. Powerful f3+4s, more powerful than regular ones, were waiting, and i mean FRICKIN WAITING, to hit. I was at a disadvantage, so i had to fight extra hard. I remembered fighting another yoshi, s3x on swords, who was only shihan/expert level, but he had powerful flash setups to keep me from pressuring too hard. But hey, i'm playing a MASTER right here, so obviously he's a step ahead. If i'm scrared of flash, then, he DOESN'T use flash. Oh shit, mental advantage right there, gg.

It was the awesome moves, whenever i manage to get close enough, and that took enough effort, trust me, he would repel me with amazing strats, the likes of which no mere mortal could pull off. uf3 off frame disadvantage situation? Yup. uf3 off being hit? Sure. uf3 when no sane person would do so? Of course. In the hands of others, this would be called random launchers, but of course, with a MASTER it can only be SUPER STRATS.

I succumbed to that, and i realised that i had to tap upon the power of TKSG if i were to stand a real chance. I uttered a silent prayer to the might (TKSG) Ryu, (TKSG) Reijimken, (TKSG) liquid_mian, (TKSG) jin_dead, and a vile curse to (TKSG) TuGGa. Combining their essences into one, i pulled out Mascot, mokujin. Standing at a mere SIXTH DAN, i knew it was an uphill fight, but the strength of my brethren would see me through.

OK screw this i typed for 10 mins i'm done, i won that game, no more games gg lol. And yes i'm lame i've no life, gg.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KARNAGEC!

A little history lesson for the rest of our members (as well as the non-tksg/launch members who lurk around this blog and masturbate to our photos... yes we are aware).

One of the pillars of the old TKSG clan was Karn. I first played karn in T4, and he really whipped my king around like a rag doll (i was new =D). Definitely one of the top tiers of the clan, I learned alot about spacing and movement from watching him at the arcade. He and Tiger'sEye were the 2 sort of older "mentors" in the clan that I looked up to.

I must highlight how incredibly technical this guy could get. I think he was the only guy in Singapore who could foxstep and do moves backwards with Hwoarang in T4/TTT. He breathed new life into characters deemed "low tier" and rocked bastards just easily as the rest of us who whored all the top tiers. Don't be fooled though, when he wanted to he could whip out the top tiers and hang with the best of them.

Here's to one of the "legends" of Singapore Tekken History.

Do a search on Slammed RJC Girl and Wee Shu Min. I think as much as it doesn't concern us 'gamers', I do feel the need to address a mentality that we have localised. As much as we are the better Tekken gamers in this country, I cannot begin to stress that without the rest of the population, we are merely white elephants, championing extinction.

Of course I do understand the emotional quotient we all would have when it comes to idiotic, retarded things people do in their games but in reference to real life, shit happens too. I think our group is not merely a case of friends who decided to be due to situation but also to beliefs and amongst these beliefs is elitism.

Now of course I do not deny the fact that there are others out there, but the clan itself has its challengingly brightest if not, the best amongst the best in all of what this country can give. Make no wrong about it, its true at certain levels and I wouldn't bother to argue... BUT I think I do not agree with everything within the group itself.

We are different people, with different backgrounds thus, naturally we do have disagreements in things. I ideally believe that with this 'elitism' we could take the community to the next level by educating them the dos and don'ts of the game. Of course, to whichever level of comfort...

Fine, we have monkeys who love to pull the trigger to the black face phenomenon but I do urge the resistance and implore self-control in everyone of us in a greater belief (true or not was never the question here) to accept rather than defame others for their ridiculous or naive acts.

I think we are encouraging a culture of people who believe the elites will always be and that they do not need to play, erhem, 'fair' to win. Fact is, most of these people do not even have a voice. Some of them may even be fanboys GONE WILD (teamJPN). I think its each and every person's level of understanding towards the whole game, the whole community and for same cases, themselves that makes the difference between good and NOTGOODENOUGH.

I feel that instead of being negative about others, its better to take our next step to SELF-IMPROVEMENT and SELF-DETERMINATION rather than waste time to RANT all day long about people who probably don't give a hoots how hard some of us have to cope with our games.

I picked this up reading some posts about the incident that I asked you guys to search. This guy said : "It is easy to put people in a box, and then claim you are a complex universe unto yourself. If you demand empathy, why not show some first? Be the change that you wish to see. If you expect the "elites" to make the first step then you are already implicitly bowing to their top-down philosophy, so immediately game over liao." Reverse that nature of the paragraph on to us the 'elites'... and I do think that being condescending on people who defensively gets angry at our ridicule and comments isn't helping the whole community at all.

They don't respect the game? Then there's no need to play with them. I think we should prove a point by playing against them and triumph against the so called ordeal. Smart aleck comments thrown at us? I think they'd be wiser to stop when we allow those comments to pass.

We all get angry or sad or whatever... but it doesn't constitute to anything at the end of the day. But being able to control ourselves and hone this community does allow us to move a lot further from where we stand currently as... elites.

This post is a short tribute to the folks over at HTGK and who provided us with hosting for our TKSG site for nearly 5 years. Without them we wouldn't have had a space online to host all our memories, thoughts and videos to create our TKSG clan!

Sadly HTGK had to wind up their business somewhere last month because they were stagnating and probably losing money so sadly the TKSG homepage had to go as well. D:

There goes Nik's very famous Korean TTT video hosting site which was frequented by a shitload of international TTT fanatics (they must all be wondering WTF happened to it again haha). Happy birthday you crazy bugger Nik! That was a smashing great party last night complete with a very nice guitar set - tell your friend that he can really sing! It was so nonsense last night all thanks to Jimmy's stupid bag filled with bottles of magic mystery liquids. But enough with the words, time for the photos!

As usual we got lost trying to find the chalet, no thanks to some confusing directions given on the phone by 2 people. -_-

Finally we arrive at Nik's chalet mansion which was fucking huge! It also has a big lawn with a beautiful view of the sea.

Tekken tribute to Jang Niksu.

When i started out playing tekken, i saw this group of people at the T5 machines who would be pretty much destroying the competition, and among them, was this mishima user, who was doing very weird things. Then i realised, it was the thing i saw in videos, but had never ever seen in person. Wavedashing. Wow. To me, who couldn't even sidestep properly then, it was like looking at some... some....... some....... korean....

So as i started playing with the tksg crew, through jac's friendliness, i plucked up the courage to challenge this crazy expert kazuya who was causing the lights at TKA to flicker with all his electrics. I remember i used baek then, rather cheap, d/b4 winning me quite a few games. Of course he rocked me for the large, large, large part. Even while i was gaping in awe at his total ownage, he managed to impress me more with his casual and friendly demeanor.

He doesn't play the game so much, since then, but still rocks people with a casualness that puts the general populace to great shame. Not only does he boast excellent technique, but he's always offering a friendly presence to people, and i really liked that post early in this blog, where he believes in himself playing a part in developing, and being responsible for, the tekken community.

He does up great videos, goes the extra mile to add a personal touch to them. Its not tekken vids anymore, its tksg vids. Community vids. We remember the times spent on those game more than the games themselves.

A toast then, to this rocking fella, on this day when he holds his 21st birthday party. Coming of age in the figurative sense, but to all his friends this person has always been a man, a man of manly proportions. Sorry i couldn't stay till cake cutting, hope you had (are having) a great time. GG!

(I only do this for 21st birthdays. lol)

Woke up this morning feeling Victor err.. I mean the Tekken spirit in me. Seeing its a Friday and that many ppl would be down in Bugis.. I decided to pop by to get in a few games. Msged Evade and asked him along but that stupid guy asked me to go Woodlands instead. Talked to my Mishima masters darkstep and AlterFx and they both suggested i should drop by Bugis. Read that stupid over exaggerated post by Catty and that contributed to the desire.

So off i went to Bugis.

Reached around 4ish and i couldnt find the dumb coin counter. Stupid TKA had to move it outside the arcade. Changed 5bucks worth of shit and headed right back to the machines. Didn't really see a big crowd tho.. A few familiar faces here and there.

Found an empty machine.. Popped in my coin. Now the hard part. D.Jin? Kaz? Bryan?
Realising i haven't played Bryan for a long time.. That was the character i was gonna use on that machine. Took on some nonsense D.Jin that tried to play like Shou.. But too bad in the morning i was watching some Knee vids and all his rubbish d4s and shit didn't hurt me 1 bit. Hit taunt,jet upper easily like how Pierre hits all the df2ch,ewgf(launch). Was feeling cocky and confident right then... Raced to 32 wins.. Stupid Azi had to sms me and i lost all concentration and lost the game to beastiechristie's Jin. Wanted to play him more but didn't have the chance cos that "Oh-I'm-So-Updated-With-DR" Noobkken insisted he wanna take over.

I decided to have a breather for awhile but no that was not to be. Chaos-BlackMask turned up and wanted to have a few games with me. Agreed and we both went at it. Seeing how badly my Kaz has deproved.. I decided to give it a try.. Kaz vs Law. I was playing kinda dirty i guess.. Just turtling quite abit and waiting for E punish and hoping to catch him running into my E. I was quickly into the zone and was blocking all his sweeps and escaping his throws. However, i still had to work abit to get the wins.

End of the challenge: TuGGa 10 Chaos-BlackMask 1 (Kazuya vs Law)

Laid back abit after those tense games and talked some trash with my homie Retsu Himura. He got in some games and rocked some poor bastards as well using his nonsense Mokujin and his new found love A.King.

Was feeling bored when i saw this D.Jin playing on 1p. Didn't know who it was.. But it looked like he had some stuff going on so i decided to challenge him. Won and he switched to Nina.. I lost quite badly in that game since i was feeling cocky but alas.. It was UDT on the other side.

Seeing how well my Kaz did in the day.. I decided it was time to give D.Jin a chance. Again, i played in the dirty way.. Turtling and dash E-ing. However, i sticked to my pact that i will try not to use hellsweeps or throws in order to improve my spacing and punishing. Was doing quite well initially.. Got into a 5-1 lead against UDT. But things changed quickly.. He got into his groove and my reflexes and throw breaking became Azi-sque. Lost about 3 in succession to him. Score now? 5-4.

I decided this was not the way i wanna end my night. I could hear DesChobo scolding me in my mind.. And i could picture Alter and Pierre both shaking their heads looking at my gameplay.. And Catfish laughing at my scrubiness. I knew it was time.. To summon the guardian they call darkfishFx. Once that monster is called upon.. U already know whats gonna happen. Cutting the story short..

so this is what im going to say

First up, this goes out to all of you and you know who you are

Some of you feel that you have been targeted by Launch+ and that you really gonna train yourself up to beat all our asses one day

Why are you being called a card coward, why is your so called friendly gestures being ridiculed, why are you being hunted down in the arcade?

Why? Simply coz you are one (one way or another)
Just that we don't need to sugarcoat our advice..
once upon a time, we did try to give good advice in a nice manner so that your frail tekken mind might be able to take heed and go along the right path. (come to think of it, Jac still gives good genuine advice in a very nice manner)

But very often it happens that oversized egos tend to stand in the way and all you are thinking of is how best to cheese a win off us or how best to annoy us and try to act all mighty smug when you fluke something (how do i know its a fluke? coz if it wasn't we would be the ones who will be finding all sorts of nonsense excuses in order not to have money matches with you right?)

So when we give you a good solid tekken spanking and instead of the kind sugar coated sweet mumblings of praise over the internet we are blunt and straightfoward, at times cheeky and even arrogant..

Whether it be a profound tekken quote from noobkken too deep for your comprehension ability, a long range shit stirring howitzer from darkstep -_-, good solid tekken advice from Brutal or straight up slap in your face remark by TuGGa
What we are doing, is actually, believe or not, for your own damn good

We've been there, we've done that, we understand the system better, so when we think that certain things are important, you bet your ass it is and will be

But thanks to inflated egos who can't admit their own mistakes and returns the nice advice with idiotic retaliations. Some of us can't be bothered to give nice friendly fake smiling advice anymore. (Do note that the flames dispensed by Launch+ in the past year or two are generally quite mild imo, as compared to many other locations)

You don't have to be pretend you are our bestest buddies, you don't need to be fanboy no.1 and try to lick our scrotums every chance you get, you don't need to pay us protection money to play in bugis

Play the damn game, try and enjoy it for what it is really worth, enjoy the challenges, enjoy your losses (pretty damn hard to do so i'll admit), enjoy your wins, enjoy your close encounters, enjoy the atmosphere, enjoy some of the shit talking, enjoy being a man and use your card against better players, enjoy your cheese (if you enjoy cheese even when tables are turned), enjoy the rivalry

and you might finally start enjoying tekken the way its meant to be, you'll also find alot of nice side-benefits may start appearing, like earning real respect without being greasy and trying to sucker up to anybody, actual tekken skills improving and not relying on some bastard move for every fluke you achieve, who knows you might become an internationall reknown player one day, real adrenaline rushes and heart stopping matches that you'll never forget! and the list goes on...

MY turn at a long ass tekken post YEAH!

So. Eh... what's happening... heh... heh...

Ok, so two weeks ago, I promoted my DJ to warrior and on the same day, another guy, balls, promoted his Jin to warrior. So we agreed to have a promotion deathmatch next time we see each other.

Now our main arcade Replay has only ONE DR machine (and TWO tag machines haha but really crap sticks). So... we couldn't exactly HOG the machine if others wanted to play.

The first Wednesday, we meet. We start our deathmatch officially, and over the next hour we manage to play 5 games (with other people randomly challenging me or him in between). End day 1, score stands at 3-2 to him.

Next time, it was this Monday. Only got to play 3 games this time (again with randoms challenging in between). Score 2-1 to me, overall stands at 4-4.

The following day... it was the showdown. Tuesday 5pm, I rocked up to Replay and he was there, waiting. After about 5-10 warm-up games using our secondary characters (his Paul vs my Steve, etc.) it was clear that he was playing MUCH better than I was. Not a good sign. So around this time, there were still others there challenging in between our games. Over the next hour, we got maybe 3 games against each other. 3-0 to him.

So there was silence as I put my DJ card in again... and the first promotion chance for him came up, and demotion risk came up for me. Signs were bad as I was really struggling with my movement and execution. But, being a big game, I stepped up, taking the first 2 rounds comfortably. However, he came back with the 3rd and 4th rounds. Final round, he's winning comfortably. With less than 10% health left, I start the DJ cheese. cd~cd~ws+2, bf+2,1,d+2, (w!), 1,2, d+3+4. d/f+1 poke (hits), d/f+2+3 throw... he doesn't break it and I pull out an awesome comeback from my ass.

So, at this point people start realising that we're close to seeing Brisbane's first Master rank, and stop challenging. The two of us are finally left to battle it out.

I win another two games, starting to play better with a bit more confidence. However, he steps his game up as well and things get a bit more dirty and desperate. He takes another three games, and I'm shaking my head at this point as I realise the next game will be ANOTHER promo/demo.

The game starts off well for me, another 2-0 lead. But AGAIN he fights back hard, taking it to a final round. This time, things look even worse. I'm on less than 5% health, he goes for the safe d/f+1 poke and I ssl~112 him. Now he's still got over 50% health... so we space around for a bit, playing it cautious. I get impatient, cd~cd~ewgf (blocked), dewgf launch as he runs in!

So dewgf, dewgf, bf+2,1,d+2, (w!), bf+2,1,4. I wait for 1 second, then d/f+2+3 throw. He stands into and fails to break it. Another close call!

At this point, he's getting more and more frustrated, and I gain a bit more confidence. My heart's pounding, and both of us are starting to be strained in our nerves. It's about 6:40pm at this point...

I win 2 or 3 games, he pulls one back, I win another 2, he wins those 2 back... it's back and forth for another 30-40 mins. The game is quite dirty now, with d+4 round enders, lots of crouch jabs to break momentum, and turtling from both sides. The atmosphere in the place was extremely tense, and quite a crowd has built up. Nervousness has crept into both our games, with many lost chances to punish (i.e blocked hopkick = 1... 1,2 that gets ducked and punished to lose?!, unpunished ws+2s, etc.)

So, it's almost 7:15pm... we'd been struggling away for over an hour now, and I pull another 2 wins in a row. Surprisingly, next game we see "Ranking Battle" come up... and it's a promotion chance for me, and demotion for him. Murmurs through the crowd, the tension is unbearable.

Again, I pull out to a 2 round lead... but he just won't lie down, coming back to force it AGAIN to a 5th and final round. Yet again, he takes the lead in the final round... <10% health for me, and I've got no idea what to try this time. We're both spacing around... cd~cd~bd, cd~cd~bd... safe poke moves as soon as either opponent draws close... all of a sudden, I throw out a huge dewgf JUST as he steps the wrong way... dewgf, dewgf, bf+2,1,4 K.O. I'm barely aware of the last hit connecting as I watch the word "Warrior" magically change to "Master".

At this time, it's almost 7:30pm. Both of us were tired from all the nervous, tense battles... but they were hella fun. And we played some more casual matches and my Kaz got demoted by his expert Jin haha... :( Poetic justice arguably... but oh well...

My Go At a Long Ass Tekken Post

Got a morning call from Nik early in the morning on Tuesday asking me to go down to Bugis for some scrub bashing. Being in the mood for some Tekken action, i complied.

Dropped by Bugis earlier in order to warm up and get more scrub kills before our agreed meeting time. Was disappointed since there was only a bunch of unknowns playing. Saw an empty machine.. Decided to warm up for abit but alas, all of them only played like 1game and fled for their lives. Only recognised player there was Adonai, who chooses to play with ppl that he can't beat easily. Apparently i wasn't in that league since he didn't wanna get in some games with me. Pretty disappointed at the crowd.. And i was left to rape the CPU.

Then, from the shadows emerged a familiar figure. The most updated player in Launch+ right now.. The walking encyclopedia of DR.. Mr Frame Data himself.. Noobkken arrived at the scene. Feeling charitable, i allowed him to warm up before challenging him for some serious games. However, that didn't help one bit as I cheesed my way through his Kaz/Baek/Bryan. Halfway through our hardcore matches, Nik finally came(yes, he did at the sight of me) and brought his gal along. Think he wanted to impress her by showing her what hes capable of. But sorry mate, I was in the zone at that time and stole the limelight away from him. Got kinda guilty after a few wins off Noobkken and i decided to LET him win 1 off me.

Nik took over and his matches with Noobkken were nothing interesting to report since I wasn't playing. Got a few promotions here and there off the sandbagging Noobkken. Thats about it.

Oh yeah, Thomas came by as well and asked if he looked like a MF. Ditto.

We got bored after awhile and decided to head to Plaza Sing to hunt the man that branded me a newbie. To our dismay, he wasn't around but we found a worthy opponent in Dreamboat. Went pretty even with him although i'm not the least satisfied with my performance. Feeling tired, we went off to binge at McD and laughed at all sorts of nonsense, from the stupid Azi.. to the idiotic DesChoBo n finally the quiet Catfish.

And suddenly Nik had the urge to play again. Headed back to the arcade and got in a few games with Adonai. Wasn't really impressed with the way he played out all his games. His offense only consisted of blabla,ss random launcher and low hits. However, we still lost a few games. But soon we got into the groove and started punishing whiffed 1s with dash E and other nonsense with sidestep E. At one point, the demonic AlterFx's spirit took control of my rotting hands and I busted out wd after wd and finally, df2ch,ss,cd~cd~cd~cdn4,b241 on 1P. We ran out of challengers and took a swipe at Street Fighter 2. Died at first stage. So it was the end of Tuesday's Tekkening adventures.

Wedsnesday came by and i was supposed to go shopping with JW. However, we sidetracked and ended up at you-know-where.

Saw nobody playing when we arrived and so JW decided he was gonna try and kick my ass with his nonsense gameplay. Thank god it didn't work or else i'll be so embarrassed.

Chaos-BlackMask surprisingly dropped by and i had a pretty long challenge with him. Again, i wasn't too happy with myself as i only managed mini 4-5 streaks against him before losing 1 or 2. But i guess my E punishing was much better now after seeing lots of darkstep and AlterFX videos. JW took over once in awhile when i needed a short break and he managed to get 2 proud wins with his random bullshit. BlackMask left and we were left alone in the arcade again.

Went off to Plaza Sing and found a small crowd watching a DR match going on. Feeling cocky and full of myself, i decided to challenge some Feng/Steve/Banana guy and played cockily as usual and got a few wins here and there. Again, there were brief moments of Alter's hands on the controls whenever i got to 1P. In a moment of madness, I was wd-ing straight in the face of the poor guy who froze up and didnt know what to do. Too bad the video wasn't taken but if u have trouble visualizing, just take a look at Jang Iksu doing that absurd long ass wd before finally doing the hellsweep.

JW decided to take some videos of my casual matchplay but at that time, the shy AlterFx had already left my soul and it was back to the "I'm the shit on 2P" TuGGa on the controls again. So don't expect much when he does put the videos up.

Alright, I think its high time we come up with an intinery breakdown of the whole Foreign Invasion, with food, games, entertainment and 'shelter' in consideration. Those coming into Singapore would be so kind to just email me the dates they are heading in, I will log everything down onto an excel spreadsheet. Again, these dates would be more or less confirmed by now but please give me projected dates of arrival and departure.

I think it would help everyone in the TKSG community plan their time better for the coming "EVENT" :D Anyhow, I'm hooking up with my sister who's working at Hotel 81 Lavender to get good room rates. In any case, I've got my house which can put up with 2 guys for a few days, no problem. Any other offers for sleep over?

For Des again, I think its only right for the guys in SG to chip in as much as possible, Azi suggested a good 100 bucks each from 10 guys should be able to cover the flight plus accomodation? I mean this is up to each individual's descretion but it would help a lot and Des would so have to sell his soul to us after this :D Those coming in from overseas won't have to worry as you are incurring costs on your own already, but any friendly donation wouldn't be declined :D

Ok, time to get serious about some issues.

As u all know, there will be this international gathering this coming December. Catfishmonger, Farkstep, WalterFx, VictorBananaBoyLaw, 666 are pretty much confirmed to be in town i think. However, our Brunei hero, reigning Brunei Idol 2006, DesChoBo is unable to make it due to money concerns.

Since this is a pretty rare opportunity for everyone to get together, i was thinking perhaps some of us might be interested in forking out some money to get a plane ticket for Des. And he very much wants to come to SG as well, trying hard to save money but having no income doesn't help to that cause at all. I remember him saying he wants to open up Catfish and Farkstep is very interested in meeting Des in person as well. Only thing is, the fusion of VictorDes might be a bit too much to handle.

Des, i know u wouldn't want us to pay for you but a shared effort wouldn't cost much for us, so don't worry about it.

So, i hope most of you guys would be willing to help out. Let's make this Dec one hell of a month.

Long Ass Tekken Update Post 2 59wins, KFC, OFS & Shin

Ok, 2nd post, basically abit of update the past 2 weeks after the K.L trip

First big battle i had was with Shin from Chaos, was a rather quiet evening at Bugis apart from the usual furniture like Malnutrition and Hungrywolf, then Shin came along, i was trying to achieve happy trance once again before he challenged..

so it was a rather back and forth battle at the start but i think i had the upperhand, probably 2 - 3wins for every 1 loss etc
but after awhile, the trance started to take shape and i began getting 9 wins, 8 win streaks and so on
in total must have had more than 40 games with shin.. lol.. no promotion tho.. i think i might have demoted him tho
In the end Shin might have gotten abit mentally blocked, coz he was giving me a lot of space to do the mind games and my dewgf consistency increasing probably made things scarier too
Steve is still a very nasty opponent tho, ultra safe, big damage, good pokes quite suprised that i did that well

i was impressed by Shin's card usage, definetely not a card coward! gets my approval!
altho i think he and KFC seem to have some sort of rivalry going on.. probably with OFS too.. i'll get to these two later

after the K.L trip i did make a trip down to Bugis and ended up getting an even bigger streak than the one i got in KL.. lol
59wins if i recall correctly, it was Azi and Noobken's Launch+ examination day
Noobken started the streak with his warmup matches and then satay came along.. (who gave him the name satay anyway? ced? lol)

satay probably contributed a good 20 games to the streak.. hmm.. kinda felt bad for him at the end.. but that don't mean i wanna give him 2nds.. lol azi mentioned that he can always tell when the satay is playing .. jus from his playstyle

in the end candyman's steve broke the streak, i can't remember how many games i had with him before that happend but maybe either 5 games or 9 games.. got another streak against him immediately after the 59wins too..

afterwards he mentioned something about getting KFC to go against me so that i can promote.. my reply was... 'scully he the one that promote instead'' haha

now fastforward 2 weeks and i finally got a weekend off, so in order to buy my soul back from darkstep, i thought i'd do some serious tekkening this weekend
the new arcade was really stuffy when i went on fri, nearly fried my balls off just sitting there, its too cramped and quite dark.. but they seriously have to do something about the aircon there
luckily it seemed to be better on sat and guess who i saw when i first got there

It was OFS, the overseas student from japan.. lol..
I just realized everyone who reads the forums have now being officially conned by Nik the Tekken Con Artist

So naturally fearing that OFS might be leaving Singapore in a few minutes time, i thought i better get some games down with him, i used 1p side in the middle machine, first couple of games was against his xiaoyu and hei and devil jin (he got really solid stats btw, his heihachi is almost like 90% or something)

i think his xiaoyu gave me abit of problems at the start and i lost one game, after that i started to get 2 wins to 1 loss and 3wins etc etc (this was against all his characters)
OFS also started to bust out his devil jin more often.. guess his other characters weren't working that well

i still got caught by the d+1, laser throw and i walked into ewgfs a few times but managed to get a 6 - 7 win streak goin on

remembered OFS goin to change coins 2 or 3 times.. but anyways halfway thru, he staged a nice comeback and was won 2 games, 2 games, 3 games back ( i think he summoned the spirit of Shou)
so it was my turn to go change coins then i decided im going to beat him at least 7 games in a row to revenge

I then performed my MsRyu summoning ritual and let my blood drip onto the joystick..
Ended up getting 10 wins instead.. lol.. then it was 7wins, 8wins kinda thingy after

Later on i went to talk to OFS, his english wasn't as bad as the Con Artist Nik made it out to be.. So i asked him a few things like where his from etc etc, but his definetely more on the quiet side
I also asked if he would be here in decemeber, coz i told him the owner of my soul darkstep is coming as well as catfish and 666 from Oz

He just nodded his head to that and i guess the topics didn't really strike a fire in him until i mentioned 'Do you know Nik?'

OFS then turned his head and u could see the passion in his eyes light up and he said 'Aaahhh Nik!' I could sense a tinge of sadness too.. Nik the Con Artist must have stolen OFS heart and dissapeared from his life.. Its small wonder that OFS is still in Singapore, still pinning for that one thing he could not obtain.. He was abit overwhelmed after that.. and he went to the other machine to think about something else

So then it was Me vs KFC, his devil jin is also Master Rank like OFS with a really good stat like 86% i think with 1600+ wins and 240+ loss, that day i did not see his Jack-5 but i think its virtuoso

Thanks to the warm up with OFS, i was doing quite well against KFC right from the start and got like a 2.5ratio to 1 loss

After awhile the streak got higher and suddenly i got a promotion chance and before i knew it, now i got some funny funny green neon sign with rank Lone-Wolf in my Hei card
It was also alot of roulettes immediately after, i think i lost one roulette and won all the rest.. got quite alot of $$!

KFC got a really solid dewgf and hellsweeps, but thanks to the MsRyu guardian, i have began punishing blocked hellsweeps with crouch cancel TPs, still not very consistent but at least im doin it instead of crappy ws 4,4s lol

KFC does alot df+1,2 in his juggles and he follows up with mix ups after that.. but i guess my mission was different, now i have to collect many strong souls to trade back my soul from darkstep.. i hope my offering of KFC, Shin and OFS souls will be sufficient.. if not i might have to consult Nik on how to Con my soul back from darkstep... hmmm...

I told Shin, KFC and OFS that they must get their soul back from darkstep and not me.. now they are also hard @ work collecting more souls for the arrival of the dark one

I think it will be a big battle in Singapore when darkstep, catfish and 666 arrives... can't wait..

Oh and one last thing.. been browsing the forums.. it has come to my attention that there are some posters that complain about people not using cards against them and how they are afraid etc etc

But yet, when i play against them their card is magically phased to another dimension.. i usually don't get more than 1 or 2 games with these same ppl and they will always shift to another machine or become cardless

Their behaviour is so sickening that i feel sad that Singapore got this kind of players, players who when they get a few wins or a promotion off another person but will not use back their same card later, play one or two games then go back online and say GG i am lucky blah blah blah

Sad... just sad.. they manage to get the promotion but are they afraid it is a fluke? Their promoted character will not see action again for the rest of the day, so they claim they will use their card when they play that character and therefore they are not card coward since they didn't use that character again..

Yes they are correct, they are not card cowards, these people are purely cowards not just card cowards.. GG to them and their fake sense of achievement!

Long Ass Tekken Update Post 1 K.L trip

Ok, i've been lazy or busy or both... haven't managed to even update about my K.L 5.1 trip : P

so lets start from there.. the bus ride took longer than expected so i didn't get to go to sogo earlier.. luckily i didn't have to make the boring ass trip from the hotel there myself coz the Right Hand of Launch+ himself came together wif AlterFx to escort me there

Right! so there i was and as soon as i sat down on one of the machines i was getting challenged left and right by the good players, no warming up for me! lol
the right machine 1p side seemed a tad bit iffy for me in the beginning (goes back to neutral differently) but i think i still can handle it alrite, definetely prefer the middle bugis machine tho

i remember losing one game to this kuma fella at the start and i think i did challenge him to a money match, too bad he didn't accept otherwise he would have earned 50 ringgit from me right there and then
playstyle wise.. yup.. was wat i expected from a kuma player that talks about owning ppl wif fancy card names over the internet
his quite decent but too bad for him, i've already met my fair share of lame kuma abusers before goin up to K.L
anyway i don't really wanna go into details about our matches, lets just say if all the money matches really did go thru, he would end up having to sell his family, car and house off to pay the debt

Okay, so i got abit of a streak goin on and then after awhile, victor decided enough was enough and busted out the 5.1 bruce and feng!
wooot! needless to say i went to change tokens very shortly after! haha
My heihachi ate a shitload of ss+4 sweeps.... lol... i dunno if vic's setups were so fantastic or if it was me being retarded.. coz i normally block those sweeps.. i think its the setups! : D 5 move fengtastic makes me proud!! reminesence of my 3-move bruce days... haizz.. too bad the card got stolen..

Had some good games with Alter as well.. had to be real careful or its a ewgf in your face.. anyway.. Alter gave away a couple of rounds needlessly.. scoreline doesn't really reflect his skill level.. i told him.. "more D+4s & backdash would be excellent!'' lol

Okayy.. time to tell the world about me getting raped by our Launch+ monster The darkstep!
Basically, my heihachi couldn't hit shit and i received enough electricity to last my utilities bill till December

as you can see.. it wasn't a close fight either.. i was getting 3-nilled every game and not really damaging him.. (oh and this wasn't with the right side machine, it was with the better left side machine and i was using 1p, if it was darkstep using 1p, i would have to proceed with caution from 3/4 screen away.. coz he has the patented half screen dewgf going on there)
good thing is, now im motivated for darkstep to come to sg
too bad for some of the sg players tho, coz i'll be taking it out on them.. haha.. will be enforcing the MsRyu teachings & philosophies wholeheartedly.. (apparently if u do that in Penang ur fingers will come off o_o, some yakuza rules according to victor)

After the darkstep rapage, i was then left alone on the machine to go against the rest of K.L
and about after 1 1/2 hrs of playing i started to approach the K.L high score of 36 wins i think, my bladder was also approaching high score.. lol.. but i kept playing.. i wasn't out to try and break the record actually.. but i guess i didn't really want to lose to a few players there.. so i keep the streak going.. i actually thought of just leaving when i broke the record.. but Alter and darkstep urged me to keep it going.. lol.. evil ppl these 2..

about 40+ wins.. and i begin to get really hungry, really tired.. and im suppose to meet my fren in k.l at that time too
i felt like to just leave already.. but darkstep say no.. so since now he own my soul i obey..
there were quite a few close games whereby i nearly lost, but somehow i still managed to squeeze out the win, the K.L crowd were already cheering my every mistake and sounded really dissapointed when the challenger lost.. lol.. it was quite funny

might be something i may try to bring over to Singapore too, ppl here just like stone face during the game.. comments always very polite and no attitude.. like that time when the D.A.N.T.E and S.P.A.R.D.A win or just get a low hit in, they make laughing sounds.. haha.. i think thats good... so when i win i can go over and laugh in their face too.. no love lost there : )

anyways back to the K.L win streak, approaching the end there was this heihachi guy, apparently he used quite alot of different characters against me already during the win streak.. but obviously he hasn't had too much success yet.. i think one of them might be this bryan.. but doesn't really compare to TuGGa or noobken's .. so i can't remember much about it

he turtled really hard and got me with a few wgf juggles.. so i was down to 2 rounds to 1
then in the 4th round, my heihachi life getting quite low.. and the crowd really getting excited now..lol
so suddenly when i rush across, his heihachi performed the broken toy throw qcf+1 on me .. and my hei got lifted into the air by his hei, so the whole crowd including the player himself went ballistic and started screaming wooo, yayy!!, yippee , hoorayy! yes!! etc etc..

and then... i broke the throw.. and before the screaming died down.. his hei died.. lol.. i guess staying back for the winning streak was worth it after all.. that round made every boring game in the 54 wins worth it! oh ya.. i actually won that game in the end..

then the last game.. the lee chaolan (same fella i think) got me to the wall a few times in the juggles and also some ff+3 in and i finally lost! props to him ^^v
darkstep and alter later complained that some fella wrote the high score name as ABD or something like that.. lol
we then went to KFC for some chicken wings and a post mortem.. coz all the sogo food was closed already.. -_-

Hmm.. today i went offsite from my office to deliver some vouchers.. and it was not far from bugis.. so i thought to myself why not sneak a few afternoon games at bugis

After a quite satisfying western meal on 2nd floor, i take lift down to Basement 1.. i change about 5 x 50cent coins

Then i go there and good thing the last machine 2p side no 1 using.. coz i want to pratice dewgf there..

Then my head look up and i saw KFC walking around.. wah.. so early he come.. he must be praticing hard everyday

So i just there pratice my dewgf.. but it never comes out.. instead is just df+2 and wgf.. then i got the blackface.. but the dewgf still doesn't come out..

and then i see ppl beside playing liao.. like KFC and this d+2,3 law fella.. he also another early bird.. and so i just keep on try to do dewgf.. but i think my first two coins.. nothing happen..

then afterwards this Eye of the Fox come and challenge me.. but this time i got my warm up already.. so he cannot tyco me suddenly.. then i do the strong style hei and he go challenge the law guy after i straight set him..

then i become sleepy.. and i start to fall into dream state.. then i start remembering the early days when i playing tekken tag.. and then i saw the visions of Iksu and MS Ryu smiling at me..
then i smile too.. and with my eyes half close.. my heihachi start to dash electric!!

then as i was having my happy trance.. this cardless king challenge me.. but with Iksu, MS Ryu and Darkstep spirit control my joystick.. the poor king stood no chance.. all thanx to Noobken for making sure of that..

The Final Stage Cardless King player also not bad.. got some good setups.. but Mainstreet Spirit too strong.. esp when he don't blocking the low.. so i enforce mainstreet spirit and make him to attack... but he still backdash .. even when he 10% health and my hei 100%.. then finally he running over and get hit by heihachi standing 4

and i got 10 roulettes off him and mr eye of fox.. who came back 1 more time.. and then left again..

afterwhich Mr Thomas the funky freestyle vega come bugis... and we had a few good games.. and suddenly i got promoted.. by his 3rd or 4th dan Feng.. i think the reason for this promotion is becoz i represented the strong style spirit well today.. so the tekken gods decide to reward my strong style play with the promotion

which brings me back to another point.. this Kuma (ab)user called 'COKE' is a card coward.. his use strong style kuma but dont dare using card.. he is not man.. and his excuse for don't use card against big difference ranking player is a pile of steaming dung.. besides.. his rank not far from mine too.. tat is all for today..

when i left bugis i realized i left my 'champion' heihachi in the card slot.. luckily MS Ryu spirit was guarding over it and nobody touch the card.. until i come back..

so the morale of the story is.. blackface and puchong is strong but happy trance is stronger!!

Wow this is my 1st post. Okie here I go.. When the monster Brutal came down to KL, I dunno why feel damn excited and after a while, I suddently started to think something about this Akatsuki Clan (in the real world it called Launch+) . Then 1 day before the the monster Brutal came, I told him that I going to take the Launch+ exam and he said "sure". So I started train hard in my PS2 .. and try to refresh back my new Tekken 5 jutsu. Hehehe.. when the day he came, I drink 1 bottle "Red Bull" for my extra energy and reflex (it works guys) . During the exam I got cheated by his Wang Puchong Kia snakedash to deathfist.
Not only that SD, but also he can read all my setup.. then I got the blackface -_-ll ... since he is an aggressive player, I started to abuse the Kaz's df+2.. and 1 time I launched the CH df+2~ewgf... but shit I missed the juggle. At the end of the day, lucky I passed the exam. So now I try my best to become more good since I the most noob player in Launch+.
Honestly, I had a lof of fun playing with the monster Brutal. Cya again next time...

This short trip has left me brutalised by K.L.'s top three wicked muthafuckers! YEAH!

I met up the local Launch+ folks after my work on Thursday evening and found myself in the company of the most wicked players around those parts! :D

Duck, erhem, excuse me, DARKstep ripped me a new one with 5.1's DJ. I think the character is broken. No doubt about it. Oh wait, I mean the player. :P Victor's DJ is no further from it, EWGF for free and just disgustingly revolting with his Feng too! I just love it when you do Thai style Feng... HAR HAR HAR!!!

Well, with vouches coming from Vic and Pierre, I also would like to welcome our newest Launch+ member... ALTERFX!!!

Welcome, welcome. Now that I'm flying a bit more than before there would be chances of me heading into K.L. too. Overall, there are areas like HK, Phillipines, NZ and Australia that I would love to visit!!

Back from my little stint, and here's a short little report on the hk players i played. Anyway, i didn't really get to play much. And for them when any of them lost, they gave way to another player. Its a good system, but that also meant we didn't really manage to play properly vs each other. I always believe in going like 20 games or so with someone before making a decent judgement call. Anyway... here goes my mini breakdown:

Overall can't say much, because according to dragonchef i missed out on some good players. Best i met, imo, was a heihachi player, destroyer rank. Good movement/spacing, knows his punishment list (went for tp after blocking my king's fc, d/f+2), played a standard 'ms ryu' juggle game. My king lost and bryan won. My bryan won only because at the last deciding match, although he was way ahead on life, he went for a tsunami hellsweep ender, both kicks, i blocked it and jet upper-ed him to the wall. Didn't feel like a satisfying win for me, i thought he had me until that tsunami kick. =/ Anyway others took over from there.

This feng guy berserker rank has a solid poke game. Uses ss4 not abusively, but just at the right moments. Either that, or i'm too predictable in my retaliating pattern haha. Ends juggles in f+4,3 for mixups, he guessed rightly about me most of the time lol. His poking pressure kept making me eat 1>1 ch, nice stuff. His technique could use some work though. I got him with djin's ch bf2,1, and he didn't break the stun. I went into a 2nd set expecting him to break stun, but he just ate it. Happened twice. 2nd time i just finished the LC. Weird. He's supposed to be a strong jack user, too. I think i did play a game vs his jack, but i didn't play that seriously. By the time i realised he was a good player, its over already, and he changed character lol. Played mostly djin vs him, but was pretty rubbish, had no confidence in the stick and when that happens my mishimas really suck.

Had a champion rank nina who played like our favourite nina player, just even more turtle, i got the black face so just rubbishly played mokujin vs him. Lost more than i won. Then a baek took over, and i wanted to use hwoarang, but put in my king card by mistake. Beat him, and the nina came back, and i beat the nina quite a few games with king cos i didn't wanna drop my king % for a nina like that hahhaha. iSW rocked his world.

Had a champion ranked lee who was rather defensive, but solid in his overall game. Spaced very nicely. Used 1,2,4 to good, irritating effect haha. Standard gameplay, wall carry as much as possible, low poke to make you block low then launch. Felt he didn't adapt to my gameplay though, so wasn't as impressed with him as with the hei and feng.

Oh and a marduk who was quite defensive, and doing ss d/b1+2 when i attacked, but i'm guilty of the same thing haha. I insisted on using bruce to win him, and eventually relied on just 3,2,1 with the occasional ender to cheese him to death. Ok so i provoked him to attack and went from there. But it was pretty cheap, i'm disgusted at myself haha.

They say there' s a couple of players better than all those i played, but so far i must say jimmy, tugga, darkstep and what i remember of cedric rocked my world much more than them. If nik would get off his lazy ass and learn the bloody game, i dare say his mishimas will rock the hk world quite abit.

On the whole i'm surmising that there's a small group of top players who know the game very well, and many others who just manage to develop a winning style, like superman, ofs etc. There was a pretty high ranked steve who played me, happened that i chose paul, and my lame ass 50/50s just won, quite easily too. He used alot of ff, n2, i think he thought it was safe but he got quite pissed at constant ws4 punsihment. He had no answer to my random ssl f+1+4 too lol. Maybe not so used to proper punishing and ss game.

It was a short trip, so nothing conclusive, on the whole i felt the bugis crowd pushed me harder, and jimmy and tugga still stand as my toughest fights to date lol. I think i repped tksg decently, i'll do even better next time i'm down. hooooooooooooo~~~~~~~~!!!!

We found this PS2 T5 machine in some cafe at the Bangkok airport during transit time. First time I've ever seen such a thing!

Great trip for me, though i felt it was slightly too short... Here it was how it went :

Got molested by the police in the airport... Apparently something in my pants was transmitting strong signal. :p Bla bla bla, bus , taxi, Bugis junction, erp,extra $1, look for arcade, spin a few rounds, checked out some of the chicks, yummy, mos burger, delighted, toilet, ahhh, change coin.

Walked straight to the t5 machines. Apparently, to me DR is very similiar to the T5 series, which means, its random and there isnt a need to play with honour, muahaha.

I had plenty of games. I will try to recall who i played with...

The guy who uses Lee, and he thinks he can do magic. Bah.. I dont think his style has changed since my last visit which was 1 year ago. Push to wall, 434.. yawn.

Then came a guy who used Nina, he's got some strats, i give him tat. But after a while it gets dry. I played with him quite a few games. So here is his strats...

In a distance do the nina's new launcher move from far, if u rush in, juggle, if it whiffs he will ssR to 2 into a juggle. If you rush in.

Some stun move when block, to the low sweep, if it hits...some jumping spinning move tat hits low, if u move he does df1 move to d4,1 to kick in the groin.(Hehe, sorry i dont know the names of the moves)

If he gets annoyed, he does d3,d4.

When you get knock down, he rushes in do d4,1cancel to ss2 to juggle, ate tat alot of times cause i tried sweeping his ass.

He will attempt to throw you near the wall for some wall damage.

Yup i think i summarize him already :p BTW he doesnt like Lei.

Another Aking/Lili player. He had me with Aking, didnt know wtf he was doing, after a few games can predict already, he switched to lili, and after adapting, he cabut. cheh.

Played with a baek,xiaoyu player. Man, he is annoying. After thinking it back now, most of this hits comes from db4 for baek. I couldnt see it well so i ate most of it.

Some Hwo player, knows load of strings, bla bla, against him using feng, he sometimes starts the strings from far so i just ss4 onli.

Played the Colonel Sanders guy for 3 games onli. Didnt know where the LAN counter was. I lost all 3. I notice he is an updated version of my fren Bill. Rather the same turtling style but he is updated with the newer strats. My next trip i hope to do better :)

Some Steve guy, he knows his new combo. I was impressed.

Here is the misc matches i had :
Played some 2nd place winner using dragunov n Dj. Yawn. Some ugly looking guy using Anna. When he loses, he turtles really hard. Played quite a few random Wang player. OFS throws alot, but not as much as me. :p

I tried using mishimas, but apparently i didnt do well with them. Not used to the stixs except for the middle DR machine is slightly better. My other chars wasnt very stix dependent. haha.
Here are the chars i played, Eddy, lei, feng, raven, kaz, dj, bruce.

I think raven isnt too bad. Can still win matches without the quicksand. Bruce is more fun with the b2, but cannot simply spam 121 , and 123 but i notice mostly nv really punish me. Lei, duno i played like tag. Kaz - powerhouse. Dj is like jin in tag.

A Brief on the Arcades in Japan

So far we've sampled 4 arcades in Tokyo over 6 hours: 2 in Shinjuku, 1 in Shibuya and 1 in Akihabara. The general standard is definitely above Bugis average but not by far. There's quite a lot of scrubs here too but most of the players are rather smart - they can adapt fairly fast - they break most throws, know their wall shit, can do some advanced combos, know which way to ss moves, etc.

And these are just the average players...we haven't played anyone above Warrior level yet so far. Most of the crowd seems to be quite old also, at least 18+... and 50% of them seem to be the working population - lots of them come in office suits.

Things I don't like about the arcades here:

1. Smoking is allowed in the arcades and almost everyone smokes so it's really nasty.
2. You're not allowed to sit on any stool if you're not playing - you'll get chased away by the attendant.
3. 1 game is really expensive...100 yen per game works out to $1.40 for us. There was a smaller arcade that only cost 50 yen per game though.

Our records so far:

Ced: 30-40 wins (11 streak)
Karn: 10-20 wins (8 streak)
me: 5-10 wins (5 streak)

Too bad we haven't played any real monsters yet...

Absolutely bollocks.

It's reached a stage where I post nonsense without even thinking of the repercussion and I post for the fun of it. I remember back in the day, when I would actually give a damn when I was typing replies or posts.

But those days are all gone.

I think I can safely say I'm a forum lao jiao. I've seen it all. Read it all. To be a forum vet is free course in psychology to me in fact. I've seen every emotion and feeling expressed in words, on the screen in front of me, and TZ was the university. (maybe only Alkanphel can claim the phD in lao jiaoness)

It's liberating.

It's so cool now, I can post bullshit, and my tksg mates will counter with their own crap and it can go on for years, and we wouldn't give a damn about some idiot scolding us "crude, boorish" or what other lame stuff. We've gone beyond words already to another level of communication, and it's has much more character than all the basic polite stuff you see, that's SO BORING. The only other thread that's fun to read in TZ, would be the long flame wars in the General section, or maybe the STL thread lol.

.. and now, we've left the TZ forum, only to return once in awhile for some cool spam sessions that last 4-5 pages that totally own everyone else. Thank you for the TZ memories guy. Here's to many a good flame war on TZ!

The past 2 months have certainly been one of my most enjoyable times this year.

First in May, Darkstep and AlterFx made their way down here to enjoy some hot DR action tho i'll say the chalet was definately the highlight of their trip down here. Too bad their trip was way too short and tooooooooo Tekken-oriented. =P

Tekken-wise they did pretty well in Bugis, winning against most of the regulars down there. Came in 2nd at the DR Team Tourney. And yes, the image of Alter's TP whiffing on blocking the hellsweep is still stuck in my mind. I still remember Nik and I were the only bastards in the crowd that felt down when Team HG lost in the finals. Haha.

Then, the monster himself ChoBo came down and wrecked havoc all over Singapore. Too many things to say bout what happened over the week when he was in town. Forming a grudge with some dumb idiot.. Going even with KFC and UDT(I know it doesn't sound impressive, but remember this guy played DR for like 3days only and Pierre lost to KFC =P).. Getting drunk.. Scolding 43534576394 cebais.. Chris hurling a bottle at Superman.. And many more..

But its sad since they have all left and our Tekken scene is going back to its stale self. Guess most of us is going to retire again until Dec..

Last day to see our beloved DesChoBo....but instead of going to Bugis to play with all the fucking cheap bastards there, we spent the whole day in Orcahrd Road shopping until Des was 'pok kai' :D

Here is Des at the Stussy boutique in Pacific Plaza, checking out the Gravis shoes...as well as the leggy chick there. Des fell in love with that pair of shoes he is holding in the pic. Too bad no size for him :(

For lunch we finally went to the bloody Malay chicken rice stall at the top of Lucky Plaza. I can't count the number of times we planned to eat here but woke up too late instead. Here we are waiting for empty seats.

A picture of the above mentioned Malay chicken rice; it's damn good shit man!! Crispy tasty chicken meat and some mee soto soup. The stall auntie even threw in a small plate of crispy shit for free I think.

We ended off with dinner at BK before Des finally went home to pack up. It's been a great & crazy week with Des and Chris, I've had a solid time with them and I'm sure they've enjoyed their stay in SG, so Des - GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE IN DEC!!! :D
